Reporting to the Director of LTL, the Dock Manager contributes through his actions to the management of his team and to offer a quality service while having the interests of the company at heart. They must contribute to the optimization of the performance and organizational efficiency. The sector head must act as 4 roles: Leader, sector leader, communicator, and coach. Note that he is responsible for the results of his team. The Dock Manager plans and ensures the proper operational efficiency, quality of work, proper use of equipment, working climate to always improve customer satisfaction and contribute to the profitability of the company.

Your responsibilities will be as follows:

  • Manages the performance of their team in order to achieve the objectives :

       - establish individual objectives in order to achieve the objectives of the team;

       - provide comments, suggestions, information (improvement and recognition feedback) and necessary training;

       - conduct performance appraisals on an annual basis;

       - keep track of the objectives established following the meetings;

       - manage disciplinary files;

       - provide development opportunities in accordance with the career objectives of its employees;
       - ensure the prevention of health and safety in their team;


    Plan priorities according to the needs of the company :

       -schedule the work of the day/month/quarter;

       -ensure follow-up with the previous work shift;

       - receive and execute requests from the terminal and other departments;

       - carry out a report of meetings with their staff and immediate supervisor;

       - determine and justify labour needs;

       - follow up with the router, the tabs of the GUI to make sure that everything is established ;

       - establish billing priorities


    Plans Transportation Resources :

       - Finds the trailers necessary for loads;

       - Makes sure to have the right equipment for LTL loads;

       - Plans the equipment for loading and unloading;

       - Plans the priority of loading and unloading;


    Contributes to the design of policies, programs and systems necessary for the achievement of internal objectives and compliance with legal and regulatory obligations :

       - Bring to the attention of your superior the desirable changes to the policies, programs or systems useful to the team;

       - Propose new policies, programs or systems that would increase the quality and efficiency of the company;

       - Ensure that the information given by the system is accurate and data is entered correctly;

       - Be aware of any legal or regulatory changes that may affect the objectives and methods of work and proposes adjustments accordingly 


    Ensures compliance with deadlines and quality :

       - check the quality of work of the operators on the dock;

       - Check the OS&D reports;

       - Respect the time of departure and delivery times


    Ensure the identification and resolution of problems, in collaboration with the various operational frameworks concerned :

       - Creates follow-ups to identify the causes of problematic situations;

       - Correct the problem at the source with everyone involved;

       - Track the resolution to ensure effectiveness of the actions taken 


    Manage the budget closely

    • Analyze invoices to ensure their accuracy

    Punch times for payroll :

    Check and authorize punches in the system and hours for supervisors

In order to join Groupe Robert's team, you must have:

  • 5 to 10 years of previous experience in a 3PL warehousing environment

  • Experienced using a Warehouse Management System

  • Knowledge of transportation (LTL)
  • Knowledge of RF Scanning procedures and Training for Dangerous Goods

  • Strong computer knowledge (MS Office)

  • Must be capable of multi-tasking, time-management and able to meet multiple deadlines

  • Superior conflict resolution skills

  • Licensed to operate different types of material handling equipment, such as counterbalance forklifts, reach trucks and sky jacks, etc. would be an asset

  • Proven teamwork and leadership ability

  • Advanced communication and organizational skills

  • Bilingual [English/French] would be an asset

  • Proven track record in a time sensitive and stressful environment
